I redesigned my website quite some time ago, but never quite got around to finishing it. Well, even though it is unfinished, the old website is so woefully out of date at this point that it seems to me I should just post this one as is. Maybe that will get me to spend a little time to finish the little details of it sooner rather than later (haha).
Other obligations have been intruding upon my time at the moment, but I've continued to slowly push my studio revamp towards completion. Once that process is complete, the next step will be to remix cues for a 2nd DarkenSpace soundtrack album, as well as to start preparing for a new video series.
Last week, the first orchestral soundtrack album from the YouTube series DarkenSpace was released. It includes 58 minutes of remixed and remastered music from the first five episodes of the series. I'll now be resuming production of additional DarkenSpace episodes, and additional music for same.
Over the holidays I significantly beefed up the production capabilities of the studio. To some extent this has benefited the remixes and remasters for the soundtrack album, but there were limits to how far I was willing to go to redo those clips, since they had already been published for the episodes and I didn't want them to sound entirely different. These studio enhancements will have greater benefits for the new music that will be coming during 2017, both for DarkenSpace and for other projects.
I spent much of my youth playing other people's songs as lead guitarist of a long list of touring rock bands. In those days all of my energy was spent on making myself a competent guitarist and performer, in the mold of Eddie Van Halen or Randy Rhoads, and I was pretty successful in those efforts … right up until a back injury forced me to give up the road life.
Later on, I spent some years as a composer of original soundtrack music for television and other multimedia clientele under the moniker Mystic Fire Music. My music during this period was almost entirely synthesized, due to my youthful, aggressive guitar playing style not yet being compatible with the more complex and introspective music I had begun to compose, and also due to my lack of access at that time to the facilities and technology that would have allowed me to make high-quality recordings of acoustic instruments.
I christened Windcry Music in 2006. I envisioned this as an avenue for publishing and distributing my own compositions, that would at last combine all of my influences and abilities and heal the divide between my abilities as a guitarist and as a songwriter.
Over the last several years I've found myself naturally gravitating more and more into the composition of orchestral and cinematic scores, and it is in this area that I suspect I have finally found my niche. I've also continued enhancing my studio to the point where it can now be used to make high-quality recordings of both acoustic and virtual instruments, as well as for mastering.
Thank you for visiting the site and listening to the music!
